Managing yourself creatively

Read Faster, Read Better

In case you haven’t noticed, you are doing more reading in the line of duty than ever before. Books, magazines, journals, reports, technical papers, abstract – all have dramatically increased in number. And the end is nowhere in sight.

As the sum total of human knowledge grows, more and more of it is being committed to the printed page. Just to keep abreast of the latest developments in your own field as this Age of Information swings into high gear and gathers momentum, you doubtlessly find yourself called upon to read more than you ever dreamed possible.

At the same time, the speed at which you read have, in all probability, remained fairly constant since your school days. Unfortunately, there is a built-in limit to the amount of reading time at your disposal. here is only one solution. If you are to keep on top of the reading demands made of you, you must literally learn to “gobble up” the printed word and sharpen your ability to understand what you read.

What follows should help you reach this double goal.
